The past reckoning definition of myself would have been something like this,”I’m confused. I’m not sure what I want to do. I’m not good at anything, I do. I’m a failure. etc.” But I’m glad blogging changed my definition of who I’m today. I remember clinging onto blogging as a beacon of hope; with a belief that I am moving forward in the right direction.
Even before I could realize what my next career move should be; blogging found me. And now blogging is everything for me. I enjoy my free space in this world that allows me to express my views, to share my experiences, to go travel the world around with my thoughts and words, to connect with others, and to explore this big world of blogosphere.
“Blogging has instilled the passion for writing in me.”
I remember when I had to leave my career, my family, my identity everything behind ten years back, and had to move to a ‘foreign’ land! When I landed, I was extremely thrilled to welcome this new life of mine, with my husband. But as days passed, I felt losing my true identity. I wanted to go out and do a career; but unfortunately I didn’t have the permit. When I turned back, I saw my friends and everyone else I knew were climbing up the ladder of career. That’s when I found blogging and decided to make a career as a blogger/writer. Though I wrote my first post in 2009, but officially I started writing for my blog from 2011. This was also the year I began contributing articles to other website as a ‘guest writer’ and content contributor.
“I did not have to go out because blogging gave me the roots to grow and thrive from the very corner of my house, and I branched out with a passion in heart, and a purpose in mind. Now, having blogged for five years (officially) and plus, I can see how different I am in so many ways. “
Writing content is not always easy and it is a lot of work. “I always wondered how some write and make it look so easy?”
“Blogging introduced me to my writing talent.”
My writing topic/subject changed, and I developed a deeper passion for seeing my life (in fact everything around me) in a ‘positive way. My posts were a reflection of my experiences, solutions, and possibilities. Life opened to me in a new way, as soon as I adapted to the positive thinking practice. I got super excited to fill the blank pages of the chapters of my life; by finding solutions to every day lifestyle hustles. I always believed that our life is a sum of emotional plus physical health. And in order to function normally, we must tend to both the needs!
“Blogging helped me in finding my niche!”
Through blogging I was able to meet and connect with similar bloggers along the way. It is a beautiful experience to find your “tribe”- who shares similar interests and passion. I must say, “blogging community is very supportive when it is about encouraging each other and showing love and support to one another. Its a great feeling that I can never express in words; when strangers from all across the globe, form a strong bond just through words and emotions in their blog post! How enchanting, isn’t it?
“Blogging found me some amazing friends forever, whom I can always ask for advice, guidance, and support. And I always have friends to lean on when I need them!”
Blogging taught me to value myself, and gave the courage to stand up for my values and beliefs.
I am feeling so happy to remember the days I ventured out to post my views on what is right and what is wrong, how to look for possibilities when you feel you are at a dead end, or how to be vulnerable yet authentic, and how to invite happiness into your every day living! I knew I was up for some disappointments and “internet trolling;” but to my surprise as I grew older in blogging, each day helped me become more strong and confident. I completely ditched ‘people pleasing’, found an honest/clear way to approach brands, authors, and clients for any work.
“Blogging gave me the courage to do what is right, and to express my unbiased opinion on social media platforms. “
It made me more independent and capable. I have always disliked the idea of working under someone, because I hate limitations especially when it is about expressing your views in an unbiased way. Whether you work for a small or a big company, in a corporate or media world- you must adhere to company’s procedures and protocols. But they come with many limitations. My blog is my journal, my own personal space where I have the freedom to be the voice beyond limitations, to reach out beyond my “cubicle” and to hear, and to be heard!
My interest for reading books developed into a good habit; after I started writing for more hours. “The more you read, the more you can write,” is the secret behind blogging/writing. Your mind attracts new ideas and topics to write. And blogging just did that for me; opened my world to connect with different authors, their inspiring stories; and to their research and observations.
“I feel valued and get acknowledged for what I do, in terms of writing and photography.”
I learned to value myself and to stop putting myself down for what I’m not. I stopped focusing on what I didn’t like about myself and learned to appreciate and love the good parts of me. I am more confident and focused and clear about my goals, my dreams, and about making my career in blogging. It has made me stronger, confident, a motivator, and an inspiring woman.
