Why are we doing what we are doing? Does that make you happy?
Are you living up to your true self?
Are you leading an authentic happy life?
These are few such questions that I like to ponder on every once in a while. I had never paid attention or felt it was necessary to ask such questions to myself- to find out who I’m or what I want to be? But gradually as I felt the need to know the answers to these questions, I walked backwards to query about my journey so far? I was curious to know if I had really made any changes to myself; or to my life?
A quest to know yourself, to find who you are is the journey of “The Shift.” This book came to me as a reference read to match my answers (to above questions) to my real life. This wonderful book, The Shift by author Mo Issa is a must-read to know thyself; to find your inner awareness, and to see yourself rise while connecting to the spiritual being.
When I received this book for a review post*I was way too excited to find the wisdom and all the hidden gems in the pages. I am lucky to have read such a great book.
By being able to develop inner awareness, you will become much more involved with your life because you will begin to accept and love reality exactly as it is. With awareness you gain a sense of spiritual power. You become an observer of yourself; and when you become a witness of your thoughts, feeling, and emotions; you’ll understand what it is trying to say, and see how your thoughts cause you to react and also act in certain ways.
I will share few of my favorite lines from the book:
“There was another stronger version of me out there in the universe; I needed to walk toward it and claim it. I was waking up to my authenticity. I began to recognize that I was multifaceted and wore many masks that hid my true self.”
“This new me picked up all the guiding signs the universe was throwing my way. We can’t hear the music if we don’t allow ourselves to listen.”
“I had an extra responsibility to delve deeper into myself. My insatiable urge to learn was my driving force. I was hungry to know everything about myself, dedicated to knowing myself in every way. I did every self-analysis test available and reflected on my purpose, vision, and aspirations. I had one ultimate goal: to continue going inward and maintain that feeling of aliveness all the time, not just fleetingly.”
Amazing motivating lines. Isn’t it? I totally adore the way author Issa has described his thoughts and observations which can be easily related. This is one of those books you’ll want to read again and again. I couldn’t stop myself from highlighting the passages as I kept reading, and kind of ended drawing lines in the paragraphs of the whole book!
My favorite part of the book also includes the tone author uses- is so raw, authentic and vulnerably pure. I would recommend this book to anyone who is trying to find more to their life; who is on a quest to discover their true self, and to almost everyone- who want some motivation and inspiration to look at their life in a different way.
I love how Mo Issa is asking us to develop authenticity. He shares his personal stories to motivate us to be daring in a world that revolves around ego, power, and money. He also explains in this book the concept of being who you are even if it is against the rules and how good it feels to be at peace with yourself.
By reading this far if you have felt even a pinch of inspiration, then I would ask you to pick this book and read- and I’m sure you won’t stop until you complete the book!
If you really want to rethink your life, and or are ready for a change, read this book and learn how.
Do leave me your thoughts in the comments below, and don’t forget to share your views and opinion about the book- if you have already ‘The Shift’!

Sounds like a great inspiration to self examine. I'm going to check my library website and see if they have this one available for my Kindle.
It would be nice if all people are aware of their being and just get lost to who they really are. Great words.
