For me positive thinking is not an attitude, but a choice. And I make this choice everyday to be in alignment with my thoughts and actions.
This is a must habit if you want to build your positive thinking habits and a positive mindset. So how do you train your mind to think positive? By keeping our mind focused on uplifting thoughts everyday. And now the question is how do we do that, when our mind goes through thousands of thoughts in a single day? I’m going to tell you how in this post.
In order to encourage and establish a positive attitude within you, it is essential that you train your mind to look for the positive response, or an optimistic lesson in any negative situation.
When a negative situation arrives, remember to hold yourself together and focus on your response. Stay as optimistic as you can, and train your mind to focus elsewhere, or may be doing something you love doing the most.”
~Epsita-The Positive Window
I’ve observed that, when I force train my mind to focus on the best things around me [especially in a negative situation], I kind of make my mind release feel-good hormones called endorphins, which makes me feel happier and lighter. This very amazing feeling makes me more strong, brave and confident to tackle any challenges that seemed impossible and like a burden before!
“Don’t be pushed around by the fears in your mind,
Be led by the dreams in your heart. ” ~ Roy T. Barnett
While practicing the art of positive thinking all these years, I have come to realize that, it is a big inside job. “How your train yourself to hold a right state of mind while reacting to everything that happens to you, gives you the complete control to change your life.”
A positive mind is a powerful mind, and with the right state of mind, only you can choose where you want yourself to be!
Since your mind controls how you perceive things, it is very important to tame your mind to develop a positive mindset. And I’ve found a better way[s] to do that!
- By finding things and activities that can help you craft or maintain a positive mind. And my most favorite activity is to engage myself, and my heart and soul doing creative things, which also helps me to focus elsewhere and to develop more love and respect for myself. This also helps me to look forward to something big in my life, and to believe and stay hopeful!
2. Through Exercise and Meditation. Through a dance exercise, or by doing simple warm ups and stretches, I’m able to shake all the worries out of my mind and to release the tensions from my body. I am able to calm my body and racing mind by simple stretches, meditation, and through dance exercises. These simple tips can help you bounce back from anything that’s going on, and can make you feel amazing amid all the chaos.
3. Unplug yourself from everything to recharge your mind and soul. I pretend to have lost my phone somewhere in the house, and walk my days completely without electronics and technology. I’ve stopped watching television, and or answering too many calls in a day. It was hard initially, but I had to feed my body, mind, and soul, some peaceful undisrupted moments! I find that being mindful and listening to my needs encourages me to enjoy the little moments, that I would have missed otherwise.
4. Disconnect yourself from the world. “I absolutely find this practice empowering.” I have promised myself to escape from the world quite often than required. I don’t mind if others are going to judge me for this! But, by doing so I’ve been able to center my focus and find the meaning that wasn’t possible otherwise. I’ve also been able to slow down my pace and do the things I love more mindfully, and honestly, instead of just “running with others in the race.” I simply hate competitions.
I like working hard and dedicating my time, effort, and attention all to my “work.” And that’s why I guess I’m behind others. But I just don’t mind!
5. By connecting with others on a deeper level. People often find it very intimidating to connect with others authentically, and on a deeper level. But I find it very hard to not-connect authentically! And I guess that’s why I hardly have close friends.
Be present [hundred percent] and focus when you ask someone about their lives, their families, hobbies, goals, and about their feelings and emotions. And listen [really listen] to what they have to say. Be there with them in that very moment. Give all your energy to feel their pain and worries, and if possible relate with them. Create that trust and the bond, that every connection is missing these days. Be there, when someone needs you- genuinely.
6. Find at least one book that can change your thoughts and your life. A good book is a great companion, and can completely change your views about life. Ever since I started reading books, I saw a new world before me that I haven’t had discovered!
Books gave me the power to understand my emotions, people’s behavior and thinking patterns, etc. Read books that will lift your spirit. We all need friends who would be there when we need them, and who would understand us without any judgements. I found that friendship in books. They are always there to cheer me up when I feel lonely, and hurt.
7. Share your ‘positive change’ stories with the world to inspire good change in others. We all live in different life situations, but we are more similar than different. And that is because we are wired and strung into one common elements of the universe, and that is – human qualities. Therefore we cannot be different! But we can guide our life to making better choices for ourselves. And this is what encouraged me to be a positive thinking influencer.
I share my “change” stories and experiences with everyone to help them discover the best in themselves, and to inspire everyone to be more accepting of each other- with or without flaws.
8. Believe in the kindness connection and be more kind to others. If you get into a habit of doing something for someone, when you’re feeling down, feeling hopeless and alone, then this will get automatically ingrained into your neuro system to flip any negative situation into a positive-looking one, simply by doing random or intentional kind deeds. This is my best way to make any negative feeling feeling/emotion stay in my head for increasingly shorter times.
9. Your gratitude list is as important as your grocery list. Write them down each day and focus on joy and your blessings. Always remember, when something doesn’t work for you, it is only because the universe has something good to offer you. So be patient and trust the journey.
10. Please remember, no matter what you’re going through, you have the power within to think happy thoughts. And to train your mind to find the joy and clarity amidst chaos and sufferings. I don’t settle feeling unlucky, unblessed, and unfortunate anymore, just because I’m going through lots!
I remind myself to stay strong and to stand tall against all turbulences of life. I say this to myself: “It is momentary and not going to last forever. I will get up again tomorrow and will try doing the things that didn’t work well today. The power to change is within me.”
I hope you find this post helpful in anchoring yourself to positive life choices. And I hope you build your positive thinking habits and develop a positive mindset with these simple techniques.
That’s very deep. Me too hardly have close friends (3 to be precise).
