“Kindness is my strength, and it makes me unique and different.”
Most often, being kind is viewed as a weakness, but kindness is a beautiful pure act, that cannot be faked. Kindness shows hope and care, and it shares a beautiful feeling about life. There’s more positive energy that can be created by any act of kindness- even a simple smile!
Choose kindness over judgments
Choose kindness over rejection
Choose kindness over shame
Choose kindness over dishonesty and betrayal
Kindness has got a very strong ripple effect that can change a life, and that can provide a warm shelter to all sufferings. As I begin with today’s post, I want to share two of my favorite quotes [on kindness] from my favorite author and founder of Tiny Buddha, Lori Deschene.
Be the person who breaks the cycle. If you were judged, choose understanding. If you were rejected, choose acceptance. If you were shamed, choose compassion. Be the person you needed when you were hurting, not the person who hurt you. Vow to be better than what broke you—to heal instead of becoming bitter so you can act from your heart, not your pain. ~ Lori Deschene
You can’t be everyone’s hero. You can’t take away everyone’s pain, solve all their problems, and make them feel happy with themselves and their lives. All you can do is love them, and that’s all you have to do. Just love them in their messiness, their confusion, their grief. See them, hear them, and accept them without judgment. Then let them know it’s okay to be right where they are, and if and when they need you, you’ll be there.- Lori Deschene
By being kind, we can uplift another human being! The world needs more smiles, more laughter and to feel safe and to belong. Let’s try to share these with everyone. Let’s build a heart where there is ample room for warmth, forgiveness, patience, and compassion.
I know it can be hard to be kind especially when we are hurt and deceived. It is not just me, but we all must have been hurt or angered by someone’s words at some point; and this often stops me from being kind or nice to them-again! When the other person projects their frustration and insecurity onto you; leaving you feeling undervalued and deeply hurt, try to walk away or distance yourself from them for sometime. Respond back to them from a place of calm later! This is what I always try to do. Kindness has that powerful ripple effect! – It makes my heart ache for others, and I always try to remind myself that if I act or behave like that person, then I’m sharing the same negative energy with her, leaving the person feeling angry and hurt-exactly the way I felt! When I am reminded of this fact, I try to respond in kindness.
I have decided to make this week the Kindness Week at The Positive Window. So I’m excited to share the importance of kindness from real people. How others view kindness- as a strength or as a weakness! Stay with me to read them all!
This is what kindness is for Tapas Dasmohapatra, the author of a motivational book, “Cooks are Many, Chefs are Few/ a motivational speaker, a psychologist, an entrepreneur, and one amazing singer. You can also connect to his Facebook page here
1. What does kindness mean to you? Why kindness is so important?
“Kindness is a natural human attribute. Every child is kind until he is taught otherwise. While growing up he listens to so called experienced people multiple times who say that this world is a bad place and kind people suffer the most. Slowly the child makes up his mind to be everything except being kind.
Because he thinks that being kind is a weakness whereas kindness is a strength. Kindness is powerful. Kindness is soulful. Kindness is the original language of heart. So if you want to connect with someone then kindness is the only way and often the fastest.
After traveling widely across states and nations I realized that when you are kind to somebody you make two people happy. Yes, kindness increases happiness in both the giver and receiver; at least this is what my relationships taught me so far.”
2. Any kindness initiative or project you are doing right now?
Yeah, a tiny one: I am sponsoring education of couple of children till 12th grade. These children are either orphans, lost their father, or belong to poor families.
Another thing that is closest to my heart and often bring me tears is that I’m able to help and motivate newly blind individuals and acid attack victims to restart their life with courage and dignity.
Wow! Such beautiful initiatives! Let me also mention here that, his writings always inspire me and motivate me to continue my dream, and to do what I love doing.
We can all do so many things for others, right from where we are! Let’s join hands and spread more love, hope, and kindness around.
Please do not hesitate to share your views on kindness in the comments below. Stay with me to read more such views from real people and about their kindness projects/initiatives.

Hello, thanks for the information. Have a nice day
I do agree that kindness is very important. Kindness is often mistaken for weakness, but I think it takes courage and strenght to be kind.
So interesting topic!
Have a good Sunday!
